Some Further Reading

Work permitting, it's been great getting stuck into the new year. I've had a chance to catch up on a load of reviews that didn't get posted or finished last year and had a chance to make a few changes to the blog - some of which are ongoing.

The first thing on my to-do list for some time has been to recognise a few other blogs which I either read or subscribe to. There is now a fancy section to the right which lists some sites I regularly peruse, or indeed, are friends' ventures which deserve a mention.

In the food-related section, we have James Ramsden's self-titled blog. Recommended to me by a mutual friend, I have been reading this with feverish interest, my tastebuds galvanised at the mere thought of trying one of his supper clubs and enjoying his informed articles. The Times rates him highly; I do too.

Continuing on this theme, FoodBarcelona is a must-read for anyone wishing to spend a little time in Catalunya. An Englishman in Spain's culture capital has been living there for over ten years now, and he knows his food. A far better cook than I, his blog is as much about home cooking as it is eating out and about food in general. Possibly my favourite European city outside fair London, Barcelona deserves all the writing it gets, especially when the quality is this good. As I said before: if you're going to Barcelona, please give this a read.

I have interests outside food - the delay on my updates and reviews is ample testament to this - and I think it's important to recognise two blogs which I am a supporter of. For excellent and to-the-point book reviews, I implore you to check out The Great British Bookworm. Reading is something I grew up indulging in almost unhealthily but it has fallen away in recent years. This is the sort of writing which I think will get me right back into it. The second non-food affair is the quirkily nonsensical Impractical Advice For Modern Living. A dear friend of mine writes this blog and he is, quite simply, one of the very brightest writers and purest talents I have met.

Finally, what is life without a little sport? As I mentioned when I began this blog - along with two friends who have long since departed the venture - it was football which brought the three of us together. Football is great, but the king of sports is rugby, which is why Rugbydump is possibly the best sporting blog I know.

There you are folks. If waiting for my protractedly long and tantalisingly postponed updates is getting you down, here is a selection that should amply fulfil all blog-reading needs you have before my next piece. Read on, spread the word and enjoy
